I hardly know what to say after the terrible news of the shootings in Cumbria. My elder daughter received a text message this morning to say that the solicitor who was tragically murdered was a long time friend and supporter of Chambers, and I know there must be many more people waking up to the terrible fact that they have lost friends and relatives who have been a vital part of their lives.

I can’t think of anything but the families. Nothing I can say will help to soften their grief at this senseless killing, or ease the torment as they wait by hospital bedsides, but I know I speak for all of us when I send them our love and our warmest of thoughts on this sombre day.
