The genius of music
I’m talking Queen – Brian May – Freddie – bliss. When it gets to half past five and I realise I’ve clocked more than 12 hours at the computer – though I have had my hair cut and blow-dried in between – I need a hit of something fabulous – on goes the iPod and up goes my work rate again. (peaking at 2 words an hour now)
Snow Patrol, Robbie, Lily Allen, Winton Marsallis, Nina Simone, Oscar Peterson, Josh Groban, Kathleen Battle, Emma Kirkby, Nat King Cole – and his daughter, Natalie – Ella and Duke and Peggy and Santana, Frank and Billie, Muse, Norah Jones and – Heck, I just have to come right out and say it – I have the coolest music in the world.
You want a cuddle? I have Lionel too. Yes, I do, and he’s great.
I love it all -
Create a mood? For a French wedding perhaps
Or just for one of those Chocolat moments – Django Reinhardt – Minor Swing – I defy you not to have a smile on your face after listening to that – maybe you’ll even feel like trying a step or two…
Want emotion to pour out of you like a leaky dam? Dvorak Slavonic Fantasy – I remember my father singing ‘Songs my Mother Taught me – one of the melodies from this piece and then I sang it later at college – Fantastic.
Lean on me, sings Bill Withers, if you need a friend…
Lean on your music – allow it wash over you and into you and round you – let it embrace you and hold you tight.
Don’t deny yourself these simple pleasures, ladies.
Wishing you all a great weekend- see you next week
Love to all, Suexx
