A memorial to the incredible courage of a whole village that set out with its priest to drain swampland in Florida with the promise of land at the end of 10 years unimaginably hard work.

When the ten years were up and the land grant denied, Father Pedro led his flock to another place in Florida where the Minorcan families founded the town of St Augustine.
Each year there is a reunion here in Menorca to mark this incredible journey into the unknown.

And then it was on to another glorious and unspoiled beach
