You can eat flowers too

Here’s to a fat-free weekend celebrating the glories of horticulture- namely the Harrogate Flower show. where I enjoyed a yummy breakfast this morning held in aid of Horticap, a very busy and productive charity that provides training in horticulture, allied crafts and rural skills for people with learning difficulties.

Amongst my purchases a clutch of bulbs- the bright pinky-red lillies pictured above, named Acapulco. And okay, there was some cake- a Yorkshire curd tart- which I would post a photo of if I hadn’t eaten it- and a fruit cake- it would only look like a brown brick and disappoint you- so I’d better eat that now

So many glorious displays- these dainty violas, for instance-

I can’t even imagine the amount of work it takes to produce these wonderful gardens and have everything ‘just right’ for our enjoyment.

Have a great weekend everyone- and if you can get up to Harrogate do so- it truly is Harrogate in Bloom at the moment.

Ruthless Bill thinks so too- he’s my top rugged Brit for this year- In fact, the outdoor life suits a man, don’t you think? You’re only going to find pasty faces in bars and discos- so take the Ninja Carrot’s advice and get yourself to a rural event to find a ‘real’ man ;-)
